GENERAL LIFE:

Shakira is a famous Colombian singer, Dancer,songwriter and Social worker. Although she is a Colombian but now she is an International music superstar. Shakira’s actual full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. She was born February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, a city located in northern Colombia. Her father name is William Mebarak Chadid. He was a Lebanese (Arab). Her mother name is Nidia Ripoll. She was a native Colombian. As a result it was very easy for child Shakira soaked up music from both cultures; she also listened English-language rock & roll.

Shakira spent most of her youth in Barranquilla. She wrote her first song when she was only 8 years old. She was won a talent competition at age 10. In the year 1990, at age 13, Shakira was signing a record deal with Sony's Colombian division. Her debut album was “Magia” in 1991. It was a flopped album. Her first two albums were flopped. In 1995 she released her third album “Pies Descalzos” (bare feet). It was her first hit album. The album brought her great fame both Latin America and Spain. Her second consecutive hit album was "Dónde Estás Corazón?" ("Where are the thieves?"). "Dónde Estás Corazón?" has sold 7 million copies all over the world. She also nominated for her first Grammy Award in 1999 for Best Latin Album.The album hit number one in Spanish-language country and eventually went platinum in the U.S. as well. Based on the success of her albums, she became a music superstar in the Spanish-language country.

 In August 12, 1999 she performed the MTV’s first Spanish edition of “MTV Unplugged.” The live album “MTV Unplugged” has sold 5 million copies all over the world. She got her first the Grammy Award for “Best Latin Pop Album in 2001.”

In the year 2001 of November 13, she released her first English album ‘Laundry Service’ (Servicio De Lavanderia). Her first English album made her a global superstar. The album was sold more than 13 million copies. "Whenever, Wherever" (Surte) and “Underneath Your Clothes” (Tango) were two mega hits songs in the American top charts. In 2002 she won her second Grammy Award (Latin) for “Best Short Form Music Video” for the Spanish version of the video “Surte (Whenever, Wherever)”. In October of same year, she won five MTV Video Music Awards Latin America for the Spanish version of the video “Surte (Whenever, Wherever).”

In the year 2005 of June, Shakira was released her fourth studio album ‘‘Fijación Oral Vol. 1.’’ ‘‘Fijación Oral Vol. 1’’ was a spanish-language album. The album was major hit. Specialy the song "La Tortura" which featured by Spanish superstar Alejandro Sanz, reached the top 40 of on the Hot 100. In the same year of November, Shakira was released English version of the album ‘‘Fijación Oral Vol. 2. ’’ Like Shakira’s other album, it set a few records. . The song “Hips Don’t Lie,” featuring by Wyclef Jean, reached No. 1 on top hot 100 and became the most played song in the history of pop radio. Shakira won the Grammy for ‘’Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album’’ for her album ‘‘Fijación Oral Vol. 1’’.

Shakira's sixth studio album ‘’She Wolf’’ was released in October 2009. The album was average successful for her in worldwide. In 2010 Shakira was created the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup’’ Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’’ with the South African group Freshlyground. The song was a major hit worldide in Football world cup history. Shakira also performed at the World Cup kick-off and closing celebration.

In the year 1995, Shakira founded the ‘’Pies Descalzos’’ Foundation. Many other international groups and individuals also related with ‘’Pies Descalzos’’ Foundation. It is a Colombian charity foundaton which goal is helping poor children all over Colombia. The charity foundaton’s name is taken from Shakira's 3rd studio album ‘’Pies Descalzos’’ released in 1995. Shakira is one of the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and global representatives.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Shakira started dating with Antonio de la Rúa (Son of ex Argentina’s president) from the year 2000. Through the 11 years they stay together as a married couple. After a mutual decision on August 2010 they had separated from each other.

Now Shakira engaged with Gerard Piqué (A player of Spain football team). Shakira officially confirmed her relationship with Gerard Piqué on March 29, 2011. On that day she published some picture on Twitter and Facebook and wrote a caption "I present to you my sunshine."
